I ran 5 miles!!

So, this is my final week of training for the 5 mile race that is THIS SUNDAY! I cannot believe how quickly it has come! Yesterday Erin and I ran 5 miles for the first time. I think that I had a pretty good time, and I found that it really helped when I focused on my breathing. I'm not one who can really talk while I'm running, as I'm way too winded. So I like when Erin talks to me and tells me stories, but there is often some downtime during 50 some minutes of running! So when I focused on my breathing I was taking my mind off of the actual running and felt more at ease. I think my only problem will be my legs, which are still killing me. I was advised be Erin's iron man friend to just take some excedrine before, which I definitely think I will do. I'm hoping for cooler weather also! Well, Friday Erin said we will work on pacing myself, so it looks like I'm almost there :) I also think that I will invest in a new pair of running shoes in the coming months as I mull over the idea of running a half marathon.....hmmmmmm

  1. You can do it! I did the Baltimore half in 2005 and it was such a rush. I was (and still am) proud of myself for committing to the training and finishing the race with no walking. I say do it!
